500 species in 24 hours!

In 2021, Skansen held a “bioblitz” – a survey that records how many species, and which ones, can be found in a particular area within a set period of time. Almost 500 wild species were recorded in the park in just 24 hours.

  • Skansen and other green spaces in the city are important havens for urban biodiversity. During the survey, species experts and members of the public recorded almost 500 wild species in the park. They included mammals such as bats, as well as many bird species, fascinating fungi, unusual mosses, insects and amphibians.

How many species can you name?

Here are 64 of the species recorded. You can also see them in the exhibition in Skansen’s escalator hall. How many can you name? The names are listed below the image.
