Halloween at Skansen

During Skansen’s first Halloween celebration in 2025, long queues formed. This year, the area has been expanded to accommodate everyone. The entire area will be transformed and illuminated, extending the overall experience across a larger space. More characters will roam the area, entertaining children and adults as they make their way between activities or wait in line.

No. Halloween at Skansen is just spooky enough and fun for all ages! Trick-or-treating and the Black Cat’s Trail are especially suitable for younger children. The maze is suitable for children aged 5 and up.

Another new feature this year is the slightly spookier area around the cemetery at Seglora Church, which is suitable for older children, aged 12 and up.

Halloween at Skansen is cozy and just enough spooky but does not contain any dedicated horror experiences and is designed with younger children in mind. Neither the scenery nor the activities are designed to be too scary, however what people find frightening can vary between individuals. We therefor recommend that accompanying adults take part in all activities together with the children.

Children are more than welcome to dress up, but to ensure that all guests can tell who the costumed actors dressed up are, we recommend that adult guests refrain from wearing costumes.

During various programme activities, you will encounter costumed characters of various kinds. The characters you meet will not be scary or frightening, but may be perceived as such given their ghostly nature.

This year Trick or treat will start by the Ironmonger’s store and will begin with a slot-based entry system to reduce queuing times. More information on how to book a slot will be available shortly!

During trick or treat you’ll visit Skansen’s town quarter, where characters are out and about handing out sweets at seven different stops.

You are more than welcome to visit Skansen’s day activities before 15:00 and stay for the evening activities. Your entry ticket is valid for the whole day.

Yes, there will! However, we cannot guarantee that all sweets handed out are suitable for everyone, but those handed out will be nut- and gelatine-free.

During the evening there will be several options for food and drink.

• The Bollnäs square will be open during the evening, serving its usual range of food, from sandwiches, burgers and meatballs to waffles and sweet treats. There are also hot drinks to warm you up.

• Stora Gungan Tavern is situated next to the old town quarter. Here you can enjoy Swedish classics, such as Biff Rydberg and other traditional dishes.

• Café Petissan is located next to the town quarter and serves a wide variety of pastries, waffles and home-cooked traditional dishes.

• Calle P Deli & Bar is located at Solliden, with views over Stockholm. The menu includes a Reuben sandwich, Salmon Club, Shrimp House Salad and plenty of other delicious options.

No. On Halloween, visitors are only allowed to move around within the designated event area. The rest of the park is closed.

No, all activities are held outside. 

Halloween at Skansen should be an experience that as many people as possible can enjoy. Accessibility during the event is based on Skansen’s standard accessibility guidelines. Skansen is a large park with hilly terrain and varying surfaces, which means that some historic settings and routes cannot be made fully accessible. During Halloween, this means that some activities are easier to access than others.

Solliden – excellent opportunities to take part. The Solliden area offers excellent opportunities to enjoy the Halloween programme and is adapted to ensure that as many people as possible can take part.
• The shows at Solliden are accessible to wheelchair users, with stands offering a good view of the stage.
• The maze is wheelchair accessible.

The Bollnäs Square
• The ‘Pumpkin Disco’ is accessible to visitors with various accessibility needs. A ramp is available.

Seglora Church
• The activity at the churchyard is accessible to visitors with various accessibility needs.

Activities where access may be limited

• The Old Town Quarter: It can be difficult to get around in a wheelchair or mobility scooter on certain routes.
• Trick or treat: It can be difficult to get to all the stations in the city quarter due to cobblestones and narrow alleys. As not all visitors are able to experience ‘trick-or-treat’ in its entirety, an alternative is offered: a small
treat cone containing seven sweets can be collected at the entrance, giving even visitors who are unable to get to all the stations the chance to enjoy part of the Halloween ‘trick-or-treat’ experience.
• The Black Cat’s Trail: Accessibility may be limited depending on the surface and the current route. If you’d like to meet the cats in the garden and get a temporary tattoo, we’ll arrange it.
• The Witch’s Broom Jumping: This activity may be difficult to reach or take part in for some visitors, depending on the terrain and accessibility.

Queues and priority queue access

Visitors with neurodevelopmental conditions can, upon presenting appropriate documentation at the entrance, receive a stamp that allows them priority access to queues. This is intended to make the experience easier for visitors who may find waiting in queues or being in crowded queueing areas particularly challenging.

A priority queue access stamp does not replace the need to book a time slot for Trick or Treating. Visitors still need to have a booked time slot to take part in “Trick or treat” – you can book a time slot here.

Other activities where queues may occur include the Black Cat Trail and the Maze. Priority queue access can also be used for these activities as described above.
