Every day!
Every day, you can meet our knowledgeable animal keepers who share fascinating and fun facts about our animals. Learn about the animals’ behaviour, what they eat, and how we care for them at Skansen. In Swedish if not stated otherwise.

In the Wildlife cottage between 12-14, you can ask Skansen’s zoo educator your questions — big or small, simple or tricky. In the Wildlife cottage (walk down the slope by the lynx enclosure), you can ask your questions to Skansen’s zoo educator.

At Skansen, you can explore historic houses and farmsteads from different parts of Sweden and different periods in history. Learn more about how people have lived and worked through the centuries.

Play at Lill-Skansen
Lill-Skansen offers large indoor and outdoor play areas. Here you’ll find, among other things, the popular snake slide and an exciting “the floor is lava” obstacle course.

Ekorrparken med Trojeborgen
Ekorrparken playground is Skansen’s largest playground, with a treehouse and climbing structures perfect for older children.

Päronparken
Päronparken is tucked away in a peaceful setting. Here, children can play with rope sheep, enjoy the cosy warm “eggs,” and hop between playful mushroom sculptures.

Galejan is the most charming funfair with swings and roundabouts for small children.

Experience a unique morning with the animals before the park opens to other visitors. Join our zookeepers during the animals' morning routines and get an inside look at how Skansen works with animal welfare and species conservation.

Explore the Nature Trail
Take a peek inside a hedgehog’s home, discover important host plants, and learn more about birdhouses. Between the Skåne Farmstead and Väla School, you’ll find the Nature Trail, where you can learn about animals, nature, and biodiversity.

Stopping using a pacifier is a big moment in many children’s lives. At the Pacifier Machine, you can leave your pacifier for the cats at Lill-Skansen.

Where are the toilets and baby changing facilities?

Can I rent a stroller?
There are strollers for rent by the main entrence for 75 SEK.

Can I bring a stroller into restaurants and cafés?
For fire safety reasons, strollers are not permitted inside our restaurants. Strollers must also be left outside Lill-Skansen.

Where can I find places for a picnic?
Skansen has many beautiful spots perfect for a picnic! You’re welcome to enjoy your own food anywhere at Skansen, except in the gardens surrounding our historic buildings. Picnic tables are available at Torslunden, and other lovely picnic areas include Tingsvallen and Orsa Hill. At the moment, there are no indoor picnic areas.

Bicycles and scooters.
Bicycles and scooters are not allowed inside the area, nor are skateboards or roller skates.

Can children visit Skansen on their own?
Children under the age of 13 must visit Skansen accompanied by an adult. If you are 13 or older, you are welcome to enter without an adult. As Skansen is a large area with animals, historic environments and larger events, we recommend that young people aged 13–15 visit together with an adult to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Please note that specific age limits may apply for concerts and evening activities.

Discounts for preschool groups and childcare providers on duty
Groups of children from preschools have free admission. Preschool staff and private childcare providers also receive free admission when visiting Skansen in a professional capacity, upon presentation of a staff ID.
