Model railway at Skansen

Sweden's largest model railway layout is returning to Skansen on October 3-4! Enter a small world filled with fascinating and innovative technology and nostalgia, with an abundance of detail. Mälarmodulmöte, an association for model modular railways, will be visiting Skansen to construct a 400 square meter model railway that will depict a summers day in Sweden in 1971.

  • It will include other smaller layouts and activities for Children. An interesting and fun filled event for the whole family !

    Enter  a miniature world in 1:87 scale filled with nostalgia, innovative technology, and exquisite detail. See Olle Frykmos’s even smaller and fascinating model railway in 1:160 scale, which will also be on display.

    Don’t miss the opportunity to see Anders Runnholm’s fantastic diorama “Festvalla Gruva” in 1:35 scale. The diorama depicts a precise and authentic mining area in Sweden which includes a narrow-gauge railway from the 1930s.
    Shrink even smaller to 1:220 scale with Hasse Ahlen’s model railway “Nördingebanan”, an entire tiny world within half a square meter.

    Hobbypress publisher is on-site, offering activities for children including creating models and figure painting. Trafik-Nostalgiska publisher will also be selling books on historical themes such as trains, trams, buses, and cities.
    MJ Hobby Experten will be selling model railway related items and have promised to bring starter-kits for those who want to begin the hobby for themselves.
    Stockholm Model Railway Club will also be on site.

    Stockholm Live Steamers will be operating real working steam trains on their track in 1:22.5 scale outside Galejan’s dance hall.
