At Skansen, you can discover wild animals, Sweden’s history and find out how Swedes once lived according to the changing seasons, through the customs and traditions, work, celebrations and everyday life of times gone by.

  • Elk at Skansen

    Skansen is home to wild Nordic animals such as moose, lynxes, wolverines, seals and otters. A number of historically interesting rare breeds are also included in conservation projects.​ They are part of our agricultural heritage, showing how important animals were to the households of the past.

  • Seglora

    Walk from 1720 all the way into modern times in the Skansen “time machine” – meet the people from the past, and visit the houses, workshops and shops. In every building there´s interpreters in authentic dresses telling you what life was like in Sweden in the old days.

  • The city quarters at Skansen

    Sweden has four seasons, autumn, winter, spring and summer. The nature, wildlife and activities look different for each season. At Skansen, you can follow the year’s activities and celebrations throughout the year.

    There are two guided tours available if you plan to visit Skansen as a group – “Skansen through time and history” and “Sweden´s wild animals at Skansen”.

  • The Baltic Sea Science Center

    The Baltic Sea Science Center is home to aquariums, exhibition areas, classrooms and a laboratory.

  • Skansen Aquarium

    The Skansen Aquarium has about 200 exotic species. Welcome to an exciting and exotic part of Skansen.
