Christmas Scents

Experience what life could have been like in the past while waiting for Christmas. In Skansen's houses and farmsteads, preparations for Christmas are underway, expectations are high and with the festive traditions of Christmas we leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind for a while.

  • Experience a historic Christmas

    In the middle of the darkest winter, Christmas brought warmth to people. Plenty of food was served and everyone played games. Christmas became a break from the drudgery of everyday life and a time for rest.

    Step into a Christmas season from the past with preparations, expectations and traditions. According to folk beliefs, Christmas Eve was magical, it was when domestic animals could talk and the farm elves were offered porridge. When Christmas came, hospitality was a given – no one would go out with Christmas.

    Take your colleagues into some of Skansen’s houses and farms and experience a historic Christmas together!
