Thanks to a single breeder, an elderly lady from Billinge in Skåne who kept her flock of yellow ducks going from the 1930s onwards, the breed has survived.​

The Swedish Yellow duck is a rare breed that derives from the Swedish native duck. The breed was developed during the 20th century and was widespread until the 1950s.
