Winter leave

Visit Skansen during the winter leave – a place where the whole family can experience animals, nature and shared activities in an environment made for exploring together.

  • During the winter leave (sportlov in Swedish), you can meet the animals, walk through the park, grill sausages or stop for a coffee. There is also the opportunity to try sports and games, listen to stories, go on a quiz trail and experience much more around the park. Your visit can be shaped at your own pace, whether you stay for a short while or spend the whole day.

Keep an eye out – we will update the page regularly with information about winter leave 2026 and all upcoming activities.

  • Moose at Skansen

In the park, you can meet wild Nordic animals, traditional Swedish livestock breeds and domestic animals, while learning more about nature. You will also find out how the animals are cared for and how everyone can help support biodiversity.

  • Winter leave at Skansen

When you step through the gates of Skansen, it is easy to feel as if you have travelled back in time. In houses and farmsteads across the park, you will discover stories of how people lived in Sweden in different places and at different times.

  • At the Children Zoo, Lill-Skansen, you can meet our smallest animals – rabbits, guinea pigs and mice, as well as snakes, birds and stick insects. A place to play, learn and get to know both domestic and wild small animals.

  • Baltic Sea Science Center

At the Baltic Sea Science Center, you can go beneath the surface and meet the animals that live there, while exploring exhibitions about the Baltic Sea and the environment.

  • Cook sausages over an open fire at Bollnästorget. The grills are lit daily all year round, as long as there is no general fire ban. Welcome!
