The Norwegian national day

The Norwegian national day, referred to as Nasjonaldagen or syttende mai (seventeenth of May) in Norway, is a public holiday that takes place on the 17th of May every year. The day is celebrated in great style not only in Norway but also in Stockholm where people gather and march through the city center to Skansen. At Skansen the Norweigan national day is celebrated with music, performances and speaches at the Solliden stage and activities for kids and adults. The atmosphere is amazing with all the beautiful national costumes and Norwegian flags.

Programme 17th of May

The march
15:00 The parade begins at Raoul Wallenbergs square (Nybroplan) in Stockholm and walks via Strandvägen towards Skansen.
15:30-15:50 The parade arrives at Skansen.

Start 16:15-16:30 Speaches and performances

Seglora church
17:30-18:00 Church service.

Don't forget to visit the only Norwegian building at Skansen, Vastveitloftet. It was moved here before 1905, when the union between Sweden and Norway ceased. You can not go inside but the outside is well worth a visit.
