Kronberg’s Studio

One of Julius Kronbergs paintings, Eros, has become world famous after a photo shoot of the pop group Abba for their last album Visitors. It is still in place in the studio.

Kronberg’s Studio (Kronbergs ateljé) comes from Djurgården in Stockholm. The painter Julius Kronberg (1850–1921) built himself a studio here in 1889, extending it in 1912.

Julius Kronberg produced large-scale paintings, notably in Stockholm at the Royal Palace, at the Swedish National Theatre, the Adolf Fredrik Church and the Hallwyl Palace. He was also a portrait painter.

The bronze bust on the right of the hall is the work of the sculptor Carl Milles.
