Håsjö Belfry

It had been customary in Sweden, ever since the mid¬dle ages, to build belfries separate from the church itself but in the 18th cen¬tury the government began to encourage parishes to build church towers in order to save timber. The belfry at Skansen is a copy of the belfry at Håsjö Church in Jämt¬land, and rises to a height of more than 21 metres.
