Hällestad Belfry

Up until the 18th century most Swedish churches had separate belfries. After this time towers were built onto the churches to fulfil the government requirement to save timber. The Hällestad belfry comes from Östergötland and with its height of 40.5 metres is one of the tallest in Sweden. It was constructed in 1732–33.
