Biological Museum

Biological Museum was built in 1893 and the building was inspired by the norse wooden churches known as "stavkyrkor". It is currently closed for visitors and will be renovated in the coming years.

The museum houses a collections of taxidermied Scandinavian mammals and birds in their natural ecological environment in large-scale dioramas, a technique that was the state of the art around the turn of the century 1900 in museums. The large background paintings are the work of the famous Swedish painter Bruno Liljefors.

The museum was closed on August 31 2017 and will be refurbished during the coming years.
