Winter vacation fun

During the midterm break Skansen offers a number of winter activities like skating on the new skating rink, winter sports from the 30´s and oldfashioned games. You can also grill your hotdog over the open fire by the side of the skating rink that is just by the Solliden stage.

Programme

Daily activities, if not specific days are mentioned. 

By the Solliden stage 10am–4pm 
Skating and hotdogs, ski sled or stilts
Try out the sledges, sleighs or stilts. You can buy hot dogs and bread for 15 SEK and grill over the open fire.

Weekdays 11am-12am
Skating instruction
Learn how to skate. Instruction for children 4 years old and older.
Weekdays 12am–1pm, Weekends 11am–1pm at Solliden

Skate disco
The music is playing in the loudspeakers and you can go skating to disco music and have good fun.

10am–4pm  Iron monger’s house
Sport activities in the 1930’s
Visit the Iron Monger’s apartment and see how the family is preparing for a day outdoors.

24/2, 26/2–3/3 11am–4pm Brage Hall
Circus school
Try to be a circus artist in the Brage Hall under the supervision of real circus performers. Suitable for all ages. 

25/2 and 4/3 12am and 2pm Brage Hall
Cirkus Skansen 
A magical performance by young circus artists. Tickets are bought at the Brage Hall 30 min before the show starts. 50 SEK per person.

The Forester’s Hut  10am–4pm
See how a forester lived in the woods a 100 years ago

 3/3 12am-14pm
Meet Skogsmulle 
Skogsmulle is a friend of all children and teaches them about the forest, it´s inhabitants and what to do out in the woods.

The Forestry Center 10am–4pm  
Woodcarving
Try out woodcarving in the Forestry Center under the supervision of experienced craftsmen. Age limit 6 years. 

10am–4pm  Animals during the winter
How do animals spend the winter? Some go into hibernation, others make use of the snow and ice. The exhibition is in Swedish.

Back Mats Cottage 11am–3pm 
Stories by the fire
Tales are told in Swedish in the Back Mats cottage. 

Children's Zoo 10am–4pm
Welcome to the Children's Zoo Lill-Skansen
Visit the rabbits, guinea pigs, rodents, small reptiles and other animals in the children´s own zoo.

Talk about animals.
12.30pm Talk about the reindeer, in English, 
at the Reindeer enclosure.  
1pm The animal of the day at the Children’s zoo
1.30pm Talk about the European Bison
2pm Feeding of the Grey Seal

Skansen-Aquarium Weekdays 10am–4pm, Weekends 10am–5pm
The common dwarf mongooses are fed at 2pm. At the Aquarium you can also meet, and pet if you want to, the snake Snoddas and the spider Imse.

at Bredablick Tower 12am–3pm 
Pony riding for children,  50 SEK 

Bollnäs place 1pm 
Take a tour around Skansen with a horse and carriage or with a sleigh 
40 SEK, children under 2 of age free.
