The Curate’s Loft (Kaplansloftet)

The Curate’s Loft (Kaplansloftet) is a two-storied store¬house from the 17th century which originally belonged to the vicarage at Nås in Dalarna. The upper floor was used by the curate or chaplain, hence the name. The building is of wood and has two rooms connected by open galleries on both floors. Such buildings were primarily intended for storage but they were often used as living rooms or “night apartments”, particularly in the summer.
