Lucia - St Lucy

(December 13th)

Lucia - St Lucy

Accordning to the old calendar, the longest night of the year was at Lucia, December 13th. In today's calendars, the winter solstice occurs in the night December 21 or 22, but Lucia still lives on as a Swedish tradition.

St. Lucy, or Lucia as she is known here in Sweden, is celebrated annually on the 13th of December – not least at Skansen.

On December 13, Swedens St. Lucy and her retinue will visit Skansen where there will be a festive celebration.

Celebrating St Lucy like in the 1920's

At the Brofästet Temperance Hall there will be traditional Lucia celebrations.
