Folk music has a long tradition at Skansen. Even in Skansen's first year musicians performed, often accompanied by folk dancers.
Skansen's musicians can be heard at all annual festivities and on summer nights at the Älvros farmstead (In sing-along evenings on Tuesdays in June, July and August the folk music moves to the Delsbo farmstead).
In the very beginning, it was Skansen's own staff who played folk music. Later the Skansen's folk musician team was formed. Often, they played together with guest musicians from different parts of the country.
During the midsummer holidays, the Christmas markets and other major events the folk musicians help to make Skansen a place of living history.
